For over thirty years my father's voice remained buried with him. I was 5 years old when his helicopter crashed in Vietnam. Years later, my mother shared with me more than 50 letters he wrote home from overseas.
Beyond the eloquence of the letters shared here, the example of his courage carried me through a horrific time, long before I had the opportunity to read them. Eventually, I was sent on a ten-year journey to resolve disturbing questions about the crash that killed him, and to "find" my father through those who served with him.
